Get a touch of a true Viking spirit on an Icelandic horse

Few countries revere horse as much as the Icelanders as riding is deeply woven into the culture. Besides that, a unique mix of the finest natural assets makes Iceland an ideal destination
for horseback riding. 

The picturesque and dramatic landscape with its lava fields, hot springs, majestic 
mountains, and purple lupine meadows is very pleasant to experience a multiple day trail riding on a back of an 
Icelandic horse. 

There are miles and miles of open areas and smooth riding paths which are ideal for a so famous Tolt
as well as gallop and our 2-day tour has it all! 
  
Day 1
The adventure starts between 9.00 and 10.00 in the morning at Solhestar horse rental farm. Each customer is assigned with
two horses matching their riding experience and personality, as well as is equipped with an appropriate riding gear rain jackets
and pants, boots, safety helmets, and gloves. The tour initiates by primarily riding alongside the Ingólfsfjall Mountain on
a rocky and rugged terrain until we reach Reykjadalur (“Smokey Valley”), which is a mud spring area. From there we continue
riding through the mountain paths next to Kambar old road, which back in the days was used as a most frequented
route between Reykjavik and they are in the south. The path leads all the way up to the valley where the power station on geothermal energy, utilization, and sustainability nowadays takes place. After reaching this point, we continue riding throughKolvidarhóll, a place of a popular and an essential guesthouse for the travelers in the past. This is affinal destination
for the first day of the tour. The ride is estimated to be 28 km long, which is a total duration of
4 to 5 hours in the saddle. After the ride customers are being brought back to their accommodation, where they are able
to rest and power up for the upcoming riding day. 

Day 2
Once again, we start the ride between 9.00 and 10.00 in the morning. However, the starting point this time is Kolvidarhóll. 
From there we ride to open lava field area until we reach a 25-year-old gas station on the mountain, where we take a 
short break. After exploration, we continue our riding journey through lava field all the way until we come across 
The Rauðhólar, unique natural phenomena of red lava hills on the south-eastern outskirts of Reykjavík. After riding
through stunning red lava formations we head back to the new stable of Solhestar situated next to Reykjavik. The second-day
the ride is estimated to be 22km long, which is a total duration of around 4 hours in the saddle. 

Good to know the pick up is scheduled to be 60 minutes before the estimated riding start. The tour both days is 
accompanied by a number of professional and multilingual guides. Besides that, accommodation for two days and one night,
food, pick up and drop off is included in the total price of the tour. As concerns, the riding skills of a customer for 
this tour, medium or experienced level is required.
