Hof Farm and Parsonage

Hof Farm and Parsonage

Hof is a historic farm, nestled in the Hofsa Valley 15km south of Vopnafjordur.  If you've dipped into Vopnfirdingasaga, one of the Icelandic family Sagas, you'll have read about the exploits of one of its main characters Brodd-Helgi, who lived at Hof.

Excavated Viking age ruins in the vicinity of the farm have given rise to speculation that one of the remains, a circular structure, could have been connected to heathen practices.

The present church at Hof dates from 1900 and contains a beautiful baptismal font, altar and old hymn tablets.
