Hot Spring baked Bread
Hot Spring baked Bread
There is a small concrete structure with a chimney close to the geothermal area in Hveragerdi.
Look for steam coming from the chimney as this is where hverabraud (hot spring bread) is baked over a hot spring.
The dough is put into a metal tin with a sealed lid, the tin put into the hot spring where it remains overnight and in the morning the bread is ready.
The dark brown loaf tastes a little like molasses bread and is really good buttered. It is usually served in local restaurants.
