Laugarfell

Laugarfell

Laugarfell is a marvelous scenic spot in the heart of the eastern highlands of Iceland, accessible with a normal car in summer.  It's located a 3km detour off road 910.

After the completion of the Karahnjukur dam, permission was given to build accommodation at Laugarfell and to replace the original rustic bathing pool with two new hot-spring fed pools.

A small fee, payable at the Highland Hostel accommodation, is charged to use the pools, and shower and changing facilities.

As you soak in the hot geothermal pools, enjoy highland vistas that extend as far as the shimmering snow-capped Mt Snaefell.

Laugarfell's Highland Hostel serves home-baked cakes and hot and cold drinks and has a map of the hiking trails in the area, including the 3-hour waterfall circuit.
