Snorrastofa is founded in the memory of Snorri Sturluson, Iceland‘s most important saga writer, chieftain, and lawspeaker, who settled in Reykholt 1206 and was murdered there in the fall of 1241. 


Snorralaug (Snorri’s pool) is the most famous ancient structure in Iceland. Snorrastofa manages research projects, runs a library, a gift shop and provides exhibitions and reception for tourists. The Reykholt Music Festival, is an annual event in the church, the last weekend in July.

April 1st - Sep 30th: All week 10 am until 6 pm, Oct 1st - March 31st: Weekdays 10 am until 5 pm and by request
