The Cave People of Iceland
The Cave People of Iceland
Located close to the Golden Circle, between Thingvellir National Park and Laugarvatn, Laugarvatnshellir is made up of two small caves which have remained uninhabited for almost 100 years.
The site is now part of an exhibition about the ‘cave people’ of Iceland, displaying the how they lived in this environment centuries ago.
The cave has been brought to life again and aims to tell the story of Icelandic heritage to all visitors via guided tours which take roughly 20 minutes.
There is also a small cafe on site.
