Thorbergur Centre of Culture was built in memory of the famous Icelandic writer Þorbergur Þordarson (1888–1974), who was born in Hali. 


Thorbergur center is an interesting cultural heritage museum with a unique historical exhibition of the district Sudursveit and the writer Þorbergur Þordarson’s life and work. 

At Thorbergur center is also a fully licensed Restaurant and coffee house. Traditional Icelandic food is being served, such as Arctic Char and Lamb, both local products from the farm Hali. 

Thorbergur center is located by main road nb. 1, only 13 Km east of Jokulsarlon. 

Open: Summer: May 15th – Sept. 15th: Every day 9 am until 9 pm 
Winter: Sept. 16th – May 14th: All week 9 am until 8 pm 
Admission: ISK 1000, 14 years and under free
