Isafold Restaurant

Isafold Restaurant

Isafold Restaurant is as small and beautifully designed restaurant located at Þingholtsstræti, a charming side street in the heart of Reykjavík city centre.

Isafold meaning "Iceland" is located in a building that previously housed the Ísafold printing factory from 1942.  The restaurant kept its name, and it's the theme in a way that everything about Isafold is all Icelandic - all from it's interior design to the design and ingredients of the food.  And speaking of the food. We go to great lengths to make sure our ingredients are locally sourced, and our suppliers are handpicked by our head chef, Ulfur Uggason who loves to prepare especially house-made items from local ingredients.

Wherever possible we offer organic and socially responsible products.  All our greens are sourced from local greenhouses, and our meat is 100% Icelandic including the lamb which is semi-wild, bread in the Icelandic highlands during the summer months.  The restaurant is small, and so we take pride in being able to offer our guests a tentative a personal service. It is the ideal location to visit when looking for a cosy local dining experience right in the heart of the city.

We offer a variety of group menus and welcome smaller groups.  We have a private dining room at Ísafold that is ideal for groups that prefer to dine in private but still would like to have full restaurant service and delicious food brought to them.

The restaurant is open from 11:30 to midnight every day and starts off with a lunch menu, following with a Lounge menu that consists of a delicious taste of Iceland in small courses.  The lounge menu is perfect for sharing giving guests the possibility to taste the variety of the tasty Ísafold food.  The evening menu consists of an exciting á la carte menu that changes depending on what ingredients are the freshest during each season.
