Gardsskagi (Garðsskagi)
Gardsskagi (Garðsskagi)
Sited at the toe of boot-shaped Reykjanes Peninsula is an idyllic spot with a small sandy beach to one side and rocky shoreline on the other.
Guarded by two lighthouses, one of which is Iceland’s tallest, you’ll also find a small museum and cafe with a panoramic terrace from where you can watch seabirds and the occasional whale cruise by.
It’s the perfect place to watch the midnight sunset over the volcano Snaefellsjokull across the bay.
In spring, Gardsskagi is a staging point for many migrant birds.
