The Geothermal Energy Exhibition at the Hellisheiði Power Plant. The Hellisheiði Power Plant is the largest, single-site geothermal power plant in the world that has tremendous potential to be expanded in the future. 


The power plant has a beautiful visitor’s centre that hosts an interactive and informative geothermal energy exhibition that is open daily from 9 am–5 pm. Experienced tour guides are available to provide further information about the history, technology, and use of geothermal energy in Iceland. 

The exhibition has on display a collection of rare rocks and minerals owned by Dr Einar Gunnlaugsson. There is also an interactive presentation explaining the geothermal production process as well as a short film about the origins of geothermal energy and much more! We have a cosy coffee shop that serves delicious coffee and light snacks. Perfect for your own energy needs! We look forward to seeing you!
