Grabrok (Grábrók) Crater and Glanni Waterfall

Grabrok (Grábrók) Crater and Glanni Waterfall

Grabrok is a shapely crater that produced the moss-clad lava in its surrounds from an eruption two to three thousand years ago. It stands by road 1, just north of Bifrost.

From the car park, wooden steps and a path lead up the crater slope.  You can walk around the crater rim and enjoy a great view over the surrounding lava.  Dominating the view is Baula, a pale cone-shaped mountain composed of rhyolite.

Glanni, just south of there and accessed by a short detour off the main road, is a pretty waterfall with a salmon ladder on the Nordura, a famous salmon-fishing river.
