Halsaskogur Woodland (Hálsaskogur)

Halsaskogur Woodland (Hálsaskogur)

Halsaskogur lies adjacent to route 1, near the turning off to Djupivogur, about 2km from the village.

Many towns and villages in Iceland have a local forestry association, whose members in the community enthusiastically plant and tend a small patch of woodland.

At Halsaskogur, you can view some indistinct remains of the former Búlandsnes farm, as well as environmental art using woodland materials.  In summer, children of the village kindergarten display their own artwork among the trees.

The place makes an ideal picnic spot as it is sheltered.
