Listvinahusid Ceramic Studio

Listvinahusid is first of its kind in Iceland, founded in 1927.  Three generations of artistic potters, the youngest, Gudmundur Einarsson, now owns the workshop and makes his unique handmade ceramic art.

Listvinahusid is the oldest workshop in Iceland, founded in 1927 by the artist Gudmundur Einarsson from Middal (http://www.middalur.com/).

At first, Listvinahusid was situated on Skolavorduholt, close to where Hallgrimschurch is now, but in 1964 it moved to Skolavordustígur 43 where it is still today.  In 1955 Einar, son of Gudmundur, took over the workshop.

He changed it’s a style a little bit – the ceramics became modern in shape and color.  In 2004 Gudmundur, son of Einar, bought the workshop, after working beside his father for years.

Gudmundur creates beautiful and unique ceramics – which all have a clear connection to Iceland, and it‘s nature.  F.ex. does Gudmundur use lava to decorate many of his pieces and makes stunning Vikings.
