Raudanes (Rauðanes) Peninsula
Raudanes (Rauðanes) Peninsula
One of Iceland's largely undiscovered natural wonders, Raudanes peninsula is a striking but remote stretch of coast, west of the village of Þorshofn.
Look for a dirt track leading north from road 85, which brings you to a small parking area.
Here you'll find the start of a 7 km circular walk that takes you along a cliff-top path to the tip of the peninsula and back along the dirt track.
The Raudanes cliffs are known for their seabird colonies, impressive rock stacks, and natural stone arches.
The stunning views along the coast and out to sea will keep your camera busy.
