Reykjavik (Reykjavík) International Airport

Reykjavik (Reykjavík) International Airport

Reykjavik International Airport is the base for domestic flights in Iceland. The airport is located near the center of Reykjavik and was built during WW2 at a time when the city was much smaller than today.

There has been much discussion about relocating domestic flight services due to noise levels and because the land the airport occupies is extensive and valuable.

However, as the airport is sited close to Landspitali University Hospital it serves an important role in receiving air ambulance flights from all over Iceland.
