South of Patreksfjordur (Patreksfjörður)
The long peninsula south of Patreksfjordur ends at Iceland’s most westerly point and it takes a bit of effort to get there on a bone-shaking gravel road.
However, you’ll be rewarded with glorious beaches, tiny hamlets of picture-postcard houses and eye-catching views around every corner.
Most visitors head straight for the Latrabjarg cliffs to see puffins but it’s worth taking your time and stopping along the way.
