Stokksnes Peninsula Detour
Stokksnes Peninsula Detour
Stokksnes is accessed by turning off road 1, close to the entrance to the Almannaskardsgong tunnel.
The Atlantic waves crash hard onto the rocky peninsula sending up columns of spray.
However, this doesn’t seem to put off the many seals that can often be spotted basking on the rocks.
You'll find the remains of a NATO radar station on this weatherbeaten peninsula and a curious Viking Village, built as a set for a film that was never made.
At this moody spot at the foot of imposing Vestrahorn, the Viking Cafe will tempt you in, offering refreshments and shelter from the elements.
Admission fees apply to access the road, including the farm and views of Vestarhorn mountain.
