The Skagafjordur Heritage Museum
The Skagafjordur Heritage Museum – Minjahusid in Saudarkrokur houses a permanent exhibition featuring various workshops of local craftsmen dating to the early 20th century.
It is also the venue for the museum’s temporary exhibitions.
At the Minjahus you also find an information center for tourists. There are three historic buildings on the museum grounds in Glaumbaer.
At the old turf farmhouse, you find the museum’s main exhibition depicting everyday life on a manorial estate in the 19th century.
Ashus is a late 19th-century timber building which houses an exhibition on daily life in the early 20th century as well as the museum’s tea room, which offers traditional cakes and other baked goods.
The Gilsstofa is a timber house originally built in 1849 but reconstructed at Glaumbaer in 1997. It houses the museum’s main office and a small souvenir shop.

Glaumbaer: May 20th -Sep. 20th Daily 9 am until 6 pm The Heritage House: June 1st -August 31st Daily 12 am until 7 pm
Exhibitions are open on request out of season.

Entrance Fee: ISK 1500 for individuals 17 years or older. A ticket to exhibitions in both Glaumbaer and Saudarkrokur is ISK 2000
