If you have time we also recommend this walk which can be especially dramatic in the evening as the sun goes down. Duration: 1 hour each way. Difficulty: steep ascent and descent of 250m. Interest: one of the best viewpoints over Lake Myvatn.
The track takes off from road 848 just west of the farm of Vagnbrekka. Warm up on the flat as you approach the foot of the mountain. It is then a stiff ascent but worth it for the stunning views over the lake and the surrounding ponds which are the main duck breeding areas. Return by the same route.
